We’re proud to introduce our ambassador, Thilde Sofie Rasmussen, a national team surfer and true nomad at heart. Since the age of 15, Thilde has ridden countless waves, competing in surf events around the world and winning bronze at the European Championships in 2023. With a lifestyle that takes her to some of the world’s most beautiful surf spots, Thilde is always on the move, from early morning surf sessions to chasing her next adventure. We sat down with Thilde to talk about her favourite travel spots, must-have gear, and life as a pro surfer.

We’re proud to introduce our ambassador, Thilde Sofie Rasmussen, a national team surfer and true nomad at heart. Thilde captures the spirit of freedom, exploration, and dedication both on and off the water. With countless waves ridden and a lifestyle that takes her to some of the world’s most beautiful surf spots, she brings passion and determination to everything she does. Follow her journey as she explores new horizons and inspires us all to embrace the thrill of adventure.

How did you first get into surfing and what inspired you to pursue it professionally?

I started surfing at around 15, growing up near the ocean made the water feel like home. Surfing for fun with friends, watching professionals on TV, and seeing their freedom in the waves inspired me. As I improved my skills and competed in Danish competitions, I realized I could pursue this passion professionally.

What has been the most memorable moment of your surfing career so far?

Winning bronze at the European Championships in summer 2023 is definitely my most memorable moment. It marked years of hard work and dedication, and standing on that podium was an incredible feeling. I was proud to promote Denmark as a surf nation and show that even we can compete with the best in Europe. Another standout moment was surfing the legendary Uluwatu break in Bali with well-known professionals—such a surreal experience!

What does surfing mean to you?

Surfing is more than a sport—it’s a way of life and self-expression. Riding a wave feels like pure freedom; it lets me live in the moment. In the water, I can clear my mind and focus on what I love most. Surfing allows me to travel the world, providing incredible experiences in some of the most beautiful places on earth. I’m truly grateful for that!

As a national team surfer, what are some of your favorite travel destinations?

I love Iceland for its raw beauty and perfect waves, Hawaii for its powerful surf and stunning beaches, and Norway for its unique breaks and nature. Each destination offers something special, from culture to waves to amazing people.

What features do you look for in travel gear?

I look for durability, functionality, and comfort in travel gear. Nomad’s bags check all the boxes, especially with waterproof compartments that protect my gear, and the lightweight design makes them perfect for frequent travelers.

What are your must-have items for a surf trip?

My must-haves include my surfboards, wetsuit, sunscreen, fins, bikinis, wax, and my Nomad waterproof bags. I also pack a first-aid kit and my camera to capture the waves and scenery.

What’s next for you in your surfing career and travels?

I have several competitions lined up in exciting locations and plan to explore more surf spots. My big goal is to win the European title next year, so I’m working hard to achieve that. Long-term, I want to engage in environmental projects related to ocean conservation.
